Dorothy I. Height is committed to cultivating a community of lifelong learners by providing experiences that address the needs of all students. The school takes a holistic approach to educate, empower, and elevate scholars to be effective global leaders. Arts are infused into the academic curriculum to expose students to different learning styles and arts-related enrichment opportunities, supported in a newly renovated and expanded 21st-century building.

A successful Community School, with the leadership of one of Child First’s on-site Community School Coordinators, makes the school an integral part of the community.

Specifically, Community School Coordinators focus on implementing partnerships and strategies to:

Increase school attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism
Improve the school ambiance, by creating a welcoming environment where families feel known and valued
Reduce school suspensions and repeat suspensions
Increase family engagement and community volunteerism in activities that support the school and student success
