HIGH EXPECTATIONS
Child First Authority organized High Expectations in response to growing concern about violence in Baltimore’s public middle schools. From hundreds of meetings with parents, teachers, students, principals and other stakeholders, the issue of safety and concerns about student achievement and sense of connection to schools was of primary importance.
Child First formed a team of talented and experienced Youth Intervention Specialists to establish and maintain a stabilizing presence in schools. The members of the team are skilled at building trusting, respectful relationships with students and their families and at helping them to learn positive and proactive approaches to problem solving. High Expectations works with students, families, administrators, teachers, and community groups to connect young people to resources that address their needs.
