The Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education and The Maryland State Department of Education Gifted and Talented Office presented “Celebrating Gifted and Talented Education in Maryland” on February 21, 2018.


Our Executive Director, Danista E. Hunte, accepted the award on behalf of Child First for Outstanding Businesses, Community Partners, and Individuals that Support Gifted and Talented Education.


One of our partner schools, Furman L. Templeton Preparatory Academy, received recognition for the “2017 Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education (EGATE) Schools”.


Two of our Out of School Time Academic Coordinators, Kathy Benton (Furman L. Templeton Preparatory Academy) and Michael Robinson-Williams (Robert W. Coleman Elementary School) received awards for “Outstanding Educator in Gifted and Talented Education – Teacher as Leader”
